FINANCE FUTURIST

Finance has been a major focus for me from my first months as a futurist. Over time I have engaged with many of the world’s largest banks as well as payment networks, fintechs, building societies, investor groups, accountants, software providers and more.

My role is to help people to understand the impact of factors beyond their own narrow world, from cultural and demographic trends to new technologies and practices. Where I add the most value is in the understanding of where these external factors collide with the pressures and challenges of the financial sector.

FUTURE OF FINANCE KEYNOTE

I’ve given a number of addresses to finance conferences and events, looking at the future of money and banking, the role of technology, and consumer behaviour. From small addresses to the media or internal teams, talking about near term trends, to keynotes at huge events.

I’ve worked with banking and finance companies, and many software providers, to help them to tell compelling stories about the future. These stories form the foundation of major marketing campaigns, translating into reports that are used for lead generation, dinners to get to know prospects, and launch events that attract media attention.

Case study: HSBC

I’ve worked periodically with most of the major banks on a variety of programmes including speaking at internal events, consulting, and getting involved with external campaigns. HSBC is a great example.

Speaking: I spoke at the company’s annual leadership conference in Birmingham in 2019 to more than 400 senior members of staff, about how to look at the future, why it is so critical to do so, and what I can see for the future of banking. I followed this up with a talk at the company’s London offices with a talk to the new graduate employee intake about how digital technologies are changing banking, and how this might shape their careers.

Campaigns: I’ve worked with HSBC on a number of successful media-facing campaigns around the future of banking, looking at the way work will change in the sector and how job titles might shift, and at the demand for specific products has increased, driven by changing lifestyles.
